Set up in the suffrage centenary year, Stevenage and North Herts group wants to involve like-minded people in improving equalities and campaigning in the local area. Previous meetings have hosted former MPs, as well as Fawcett's former Chief Exec Sam Smethers. In November, we hosted a seminar on Violence Against Women and Girls.

Upcoming events

Reclaim The Night – Friday 4 March @ midnight (meeting location TBA)

One of the key issues from our seminar was that women should feel safe outside at night.  Join members of Stevenage and N Herts Fawcett Society to Reclaim The Night and highlight the need for streets lights to be switched back on at night. We will form small groups to walk in different areas of Stevenage, once the lights go out, documenting our experience as part of our campaign to convince HCC to reverse their policy of turning off street lights at midnight.  The more of us there are, the bigger the message, so please do pass on the invitation - it's open to women everywhere.

International Women’s Day

Celebrate International Women’s Day at Knebworth Park with our annual commemoration of the Suffragette movement and the life of Constance Lytton. We will meet at Constance's Mausoleum at Knebworth at 11am on Saturday 12 March, with refreshments afterwards at The Barns tea room.

We welcome people who share Fawcett's values.  Please email [email protected] if you wish to contact the branch or to attend the events.
