“Sure Fred Astaire was great, but don’t forget that Ginger Rogers did everything he did, backwards and in high heels.”
I want to support efforts to create a fairer and more equal society so that girls, like my daughter, feel empowered to achieve their dreams.
I have the privilege of leading Fawcett. I'm proud of our research and the campaigning work we do, even more so in this centenary year. But we only exist because of funding we receive from our members and supporters. We want to grow our impact and speed up the pace of change. But we can only do that with your help! If you value us and what we do, please support us.
Running the beautiful Royal Parks half-marathon is a wonderful pretext to fund-raise for the Fawcett Society in the year we are celebrating 100 years of votes for women.
I am fundraising for Fawcett because it is an organisation fighting hard for equality; because inequality hurts us all, makes us less than we are and produces violence and fear; because I want more and better for all of our children; because of the silence of the girls; because we are running out of time and if running helps, this girl can and will.
As a feminist, I believe that we have not yet achieved full gender equality in our society, and I support the Fawcett Society's efforts to campaign for women's rights
On October 14th, I will be running The Royal Parks Half Marathon for The Fawcett Society - the UK’s leading charity campaigning for gender equality and women’s rights.
In this era of the #MeToo movement, Time's Up and the equal pay fight, the campaign for gender equality and women's rights is as crucial as ever. I'm running for Fawcett to help them continue their invaluable work to improve the lives of all women in the UK.
As you may have (ahem) notice, this year marks the centenary of the first women winning the vote. It also happens to be my half centenary and I wanted to mark it by fundraising for a cause very close to my heart.
Because the patriarchy won't smash itself!
To mark International Women's Day we wanted to raise some money for a good cause and do something we enjoy.
