After two consecutive terms as Chair of the Fawcett Society Belinda Phipps has stepped down from the Board of Fawcett in order to take on a board role in the public sector. Belinda joined the organisation at a time of great challenge and has taken it from there to the influential and well positioned charity that it is today. During this time her dedication and expertise have been a great strength in providing strong leadership for the board and broader organisation. We wish her well in the future.

Addressing the staff and trustees of the Society Belinda said:

‘Chairing Fawcett has been a great privilege and a great challenge. Now more than ever gender equality is needed for a better society for all. I hope I have played my part and wish Fawcett and its great team all the best for the future.’

Responding on behalf of the Fawcett Society Sam Smethers, Chief Executive said:

“We all owe Belinda a great debt of gratitude for everything she has done to ensure we have strong and stable foundations on which to build for the future. Fawcett is already a much stronger, more impactful organisation than it was a few years ago and we will continue to grow our impact in the years to come.”

We will open the recruitment process for a new Chair shortly. If would like an early conversation about this with our Chief Executive, please get in touch at [email protected]
