This year a lot of our events are happening online. So we wanted to make sure you had all the answers to any technical questions. 

Here's our lowdown of how to join us on zoom. 

Joining Zoom:
If this is your first time using Zoom, we’d recommend downloading the Zoom App on your computer or mobile beforehand. You can do this by clicking here.

When you join the event, please make sure your Zoom display name is your first name and surname so that we know who has joined the event. 

Common questions and answers 

Q). It’s asking me for a password?
A). Please try signing into Zoom first, using your email address and zoom password. You can sign in here - https://zoom.us/signin. You may need to create an account (it’s free) if you’ve never used Zoom before.


Q). I can’t open the link
A). Try opening the link in another web browser – by browser we mean Internet Explorer, Firefox, Google Chrome etc.


Q). The sound is not working.
A). Here are some things you can try:

  • Please check the sound is turned up on your computer – is your computer on mute?
  • Do you have a pair of headphones you could try plugging in
  • Try changing the audio settings on Zoom - the photo below shows the settings we’d recommend using.

Q). I can’t find the captions.
A). You should receive a notification on your device asking if you would like to turn on captions. If not, try clicking on menu > turn on closed captions.

Q). I can’t make slido work
A) Please try opening Slido again. Please head to https://www.sli.do/ and enter the event code
B) If you're still struggling to access Slido, please email your answers to [email protected]wcettsoicety.org.uk and we will make sure they are taken into account.

Q). The QR code Is not working
A). Please head to https://www.sli.do/ and enter the event code 

Q). I can't get in and I've missed the event. 
A). We record most of our online events and our team would be happy to share the video with you. We’d welcome your reflections on this via [email protected]

Q). What’s the Q&A function?
A). The Q&A function can be found on the toolbar along the bottom of the Zoom screen. The photo below will show what the icon looks like.

Q). Why can’t I speak/ there is no chat? Why can’t I see other people’s messages?
Some of our events don't have a working chat function. You are able to message panelists directly with your questions via the Q&A function.
