News News & press releases Fawcett comments on failure to elect a single woman to Metro Mayoral position 05 MAY 2017 Local election results today reveal not a single Metro Mayor elected. Fawcett Chief Executive Sam Smethers says: “It now looks likely that every one of the six Metro Mayors will be a man. This represents a shocking failure by all of the parties to put forward enough women candidates. “The Electoral Reform Society estimates that 93% of the roles in the Combined Authorities will also go to men. “Each of the Mayors now needs to put forward clear plans to make sure there are women at the top table of the new administrations”.
