Fawcett members are central to our power and influence. You underpin everything we do. From delivering strength in numbers to ensuring we have the funds to continue our vital work and campaigning locally, we simply can’t do it without you, the Fawcett member.
From as little as £1.50 a month, you will fund our work to help ensure women play an equal part in society. Fawcett contributes to policy and legislation on a range of issues, from giving our views on specific Bills to making policy suggestions.
We also have a number of local groups across the country; you can support Fawcett by working with these groups to take campaigns directly to your area. We will pass your details on to the local group when you join.
Members are responsible for electing the Board of Trustees. The Board leads the charity on behalf of members.

Fawcett+ is a membership scheme for those who are able to make a larger contribution to help us accelerate the pace of change for women’s equality in the UK. We would not be where we are today without our existing supporters but we know that some of you are able and want to do more. If you give at least £365 a year you can become a member of Fawcett+.

To join, we ask supporters to donate at least £1 a day for women’s rights. You can do this by direct debit with an annual total of £365, or by making a single donation of at least £365 each year, or a £35 per month direct debit.

Membership Terms & Conditions
By becoming a member of the Fawcett Society you commit to promoting our values to achieve a society in which the choices you can make and the control you have over your life are no longer determined by your gender.
As a member, you have the right to vote in elections for vacancies on our Board of Trustees and in relation to motions put forward to our Annual General Meeting or Extraordinary General Meeting and to vote to adopt the annual report and accounts. The board of trustees govern the charity and are accountable to our members.
As a member of The Fawcett Society you will also receive discounted/free places at Fawcett events through the year, an introductory 50% off Fawcett this is what a feminist looks like t-shirt, our monthly enewsletter and twice yearly emagazine,. When you join we will also notify you of any local Fawcett Society groups in your area. For affiliate members this applies to your registered representative only.
We reserve the right to change the benefits that apply to Fawcett Society membership at any time and without prior notice.
We will endeavour to keep in regular contact with you via email and will only use your postal address in the event of no email address being provided. We will use the latest contact information you provide us with and cannot be held responsible for any items which are not received if you change your contact details without notifying us.
Family membership is open to up to 4 individuals who are members of the same family. It is for the applicant to determine who is in their family. Each individual who has been signed up as part of a family membership will be given the same individual rights as other Fawcett members. Each family membership has a lead member who is responsible for payment. The family membership can have multiple members. Members who have joined as part of the same family membership are identified on individual membership records.
If gift or family membership of the Fawcett Society has been purchased on behalf of a child aged under 16 we will continue to communicate with the appropriate adult named on the membership application until the member reaches the age of 16.
The Fawcett Society reserves the right to refuse or terminate membership if the individual member or affiliating member organisation behaves in a manner that contravenes our code of conduct which is set out below. All members will adhere to the rules set out in The Fawcett Society’s governing document – our Memorandum and Articles. A copy is available on our website.
Force majeure – neither party shall be liable to the other for any delay or non-performance of its obligations by reason of matters beyond its control including, but not limited to, any act of terrorism, war, riot, civil commotion, compliance with any law or government order, fire, flood or storm, strikes, or any other industrial dispute, delay in transit, power failure, postal delay, or any event that cannot be reasonably be planned for or avoided. In which case, we will deliver as soon as is reasonably possible.
Membership does not entitle you to use the Fawcett Society logo or present yourself as representing Fawcett Society views unless you have obtained permission from the Chief Executive in writing.
Membership subscriptions will be taken on an annual or monthly basis based on the payment frequency you choose when you join. You can change the frequency of when you make your payment to us or you can cancel at any time by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org. Cancellations will only be accepted in writing. Direct debit membership subscriptions whether monthly or annually, will run indefinitely and will renew automatically unless you choose to cancel it. Those without a direct debit subscription will be contacted at the point of renewal.
