Nicola Sturgeon pushes for gender balance on public sector boards

At the keynote speech at the Women 50:50 conference in Edinburgh today, Nicola Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland, will commitment to legislate for equal representation on public boards.

Welcoming Nicola Sturgeon’s announcement, Sam Smethers, Chief Executive of the Fawcett Society, said:

‘This is exactly the leadership and action we need on this issue. The time has come for equality at the top. But let’s not stop at the public sector.’
