News News & press releases Belinda Phipps steps down as Fawcett Society Chair 28 JANUARY 2018 After two consecutive terms as Chair of the Fawcett Society Belinda Phipps has stepped down from the Board of Fawcett in order to take on a board role in the public sector. Belinda joined the organisation at a time of great challenge and has taken it from there to the influential and well positioned charity that it is today. During this time her dedication and expertise have been a great strength in providing strong leadership for the board and broader organisation. We wish her well in the future. Addressing the staff and trustees of the Society Belinda said: ‘Chairing Fawcett has been a great privilege and a great challenge. Now more than ever gender equality is needed for a better society for all. I hope I have played my part and wish Fawcett and its great team all the best for the future.’ Responding on behalf of the Fawcett Society Sam Smethers, Chief Executive said: “We all owe Belinda a great debt of gratitude for everything she has done to ensure we have strong and stable foundations on which to build for the future. Fawcett is already a much stronger, more impactful organisation than it was a few years ago and we will continue to grow our impact in the years to come.” We will open the recruitment process for a new Chair shortly.
