Invisible Women: In conversation with Caroline Criado Perez and Helen Lewis

Join us for an evening with Caroline Criado Perez, award-winning campaigner and author of Invisible Women, and journalist Helen Lewis for a powerful and provocative conversation on how the gender data gap shapes our world.

In Invisible Women, Criado Perez brings together for the first time an impressive range of case studies, stories and new research from across the world that illustrate the hidden ways in which women are forgotten, and the impact this has on their health and well-being. From government policy and medical research, to technology, workplaces, urban planning and the media, Invisible Women reveals the biased data that excludes women.

The evening will begin with an introduction to the book, followed by a discussion and Q&A session - and finally an opportunity to network over drinks.

About the speakers

Caroline Criado Perez is a freelance writer, campaigner and consultant. She was featured in the Independent on Sunday’s Happy List 2013, and won the Liberty Human Rights Campaigner of the Year Award 2013. In 2015 she was named an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours. Her first book, Do It Like A Woman was published by Portobello Books in May 2015. Her second book, Invisible Women: Exposing Data Bias in a World Designed for Men is available here.

Helen Lewis is associate editor of the New Statesman. She regularly appears on BBC Radio 4’s Week in Westminster and the News Quiz. Her book, DIFFICULT WOMEN: A History of Feminism in 9 Fights, will publish in Spring 2020 with Jonathan Cape.

Getting to the venue
