Kick-starting a month of action for a more equal world, CARE’s annual celebration to mark International Women’s Day is a great way for everyone  women, men, girls, boys and people of all genders and identities – to come together for a day of inspiration and entertainment.

The event will be led by Dr Helen Pankhurst, great-granddaughter of suffragette leader Emmeline Pankhurst, Sadiq Khan, Annie Lennox and Bianca Jagger.

You will hear speeches from celebrated women’s rights champion Annie Lennox, London’s proud feminist Mayor Sadiq Khan and Syrian refugee Muzoon Almellehan, Malala Fund campaigner for girls’ education.

In the rally’s grand finale we will do a mass ‘singalong’ of the classic women’s empowerment song ‘RESPECT.’ Led by Olympic ceremony composer David Arnold, you can ‘CAREoke’ along with a range of famous singers including Melanie C, VV Brown, Kate Nash, Laura Mvula, Natasha Bedingfield and Preeya Kalidas.

There will also be songs from Laura Mvula, Billy Bragg and Beth Orton. After the rally, we will march across iconic Tower Bridge.

The event is free, but please register to let us know you are coming. We look forward to seeing you on March 5th!

FAQs

What should I bring?

The Scoop is on an exposed riverside site so in chilly weather it can feel very cold. Please do wrap up warm and bring blankets and cushions for when you sit down.

We will have a limited number of #March4Women placards available, but please feel free to make and bring your own banners and flags to show your support for gender equality!

Can I bring children?

Yes, all ages are welcome and there will be music and entertainment to keep children interested. If you are bringing children please note that it can feel very cold at the Scoop and along the riverside, so please do wrap up warm and bring blankets and cushions for when you sit down.

Is it only for women?

No, we want people of all genders to come! We are marching for gender equality and our speakers will talk about what people of all genders – including men and boys – can do to help make a more equal world.
