  • Women, are you interested in getting into politics but don't know how to begin?
  • Do you need more information but don't know where to get it?
  • Or do you worry you don't have the skills but you still want to make a difference?

Fawcett Devon has teamed up with The Parliament Project to host an afternoon of discussions to demystify the process of getting into politics.

The Exploring your Political Pathway workshop will explore the stages involved in getting elected; joining a party, becoming an activist, through to selection and election and explore how women can best prepare for this role.

This will be followed by a panel discussion featuring a cross party panel of speakers with rich experience of standing for elected office.

  • Claire Wright - East Devon Independent
  • Jacqi Hodgson - Green
  • Caroline Kolek - Labour Candidate last election
  • Bea Geare - WEP
  • Amanda Forde - Conservative
  • Vanessa Newcombe - Lib Dems

1.30 - 3.30 pm: Exploring your Political Pathway workshop

4 - 5.30pm: Panel discussion

We would love to encourage all women with an interest in politics to join us at the event. We hope to encourage women in our community to stand in the district council elections in Devon next year and for positions on parish and town councils across the area. We need more women in positions of leadership and decision making to bring change to our Community and to achieve 50:50 gender balance in Parliament.

This workshop and panel discussion will be facilitated by Parliament Project North Lead Nicola Waterworth.

The Parliament Project are grateful to be supported by the Joseph Rowntree Reform Trust for this event.
