What Fawcett Devon is Currently Doing Working for Equality for Women in Devon
Fawcett Devon was formed in 2009. Since then its members have worked on gender equality issues with a range of local authorities and voluntary sector groups in Devon, and we still do.
We are signed up to the Devon Strategic Partnership Joint Declaration for Equality and our members currently have gender equality reference group status with Devon County Council and the Devon and Cornwall Constabulary.
In addition, our current campaign for a Nil limit for sex entertainment venues in Exeter has resulted in that City’s Council moving to a public consultation early next year.
Our members are on domestic violence groups and the Board of Devon Rape Crisis Service. A Fawcett Devon supporter was recently appointed to the Devon and Cornwall Police and crime panel which is responsible for holding the new police and crime Commissioner to account. Several Fawcett Devon supporters are local authority councillors in both district councils and the county council.
We currently have 2 live campaigns : opposing Sexual Entertainment Venues in Devon and Promoting Women into Public Office
We welcome new members to join us in putting women’s views on the local map.
