The Equality Bill

Fawcett is campaigning in partnership with UNISON for stronger measures tackling the gender pay gap to be introduced through the Equality Bill - currently making its way through parliament.

The Government's Equality Bill seeks to streamline and strengthen existing equality legislation. However, Fawcett and UNISON are concerned that the measures to tackle the stubborn gender pay gap are inadequate.

To close the pay gap Fawcett and UNISON are calling for the following three measures to be included in the Equality Bill:
1) Mandatory pay audits
2) Hypothetical comparators
3) Representative actions

These measures would help prevent pay discrimination from occurring and better enable women to seek justice. For more information about Fawcett and UNISON’s campaign demands please download the briefings on the right of this page.
