Fawcett’s new blog
Welcome to the brand-new, hot off the press Fawcett Society blog about all things feminist. The title is deliberate: these are feminist matters we’ll be discussing, and feminism absolutely matters!
It’ll be our way of keeping in touch with you, giving you a digest of our latest research and campaigning news, as well as debating the feminist issues of the day.
We want this to be a lively, inclusive space and we will be inviting guest posts from across the feminist and political space. We’ll be showcasing campaigns and actions, hearing from Fawcett members and local Fawcett groups about their work, reviewing classic feminist texts (and new classics too!), and we will provide you with a weekly round-up of our favourite articles and blogs every Friday.
Not an organisation to do anything by halves, we are launching Feminist Matters just as the much anticipated pre-election party conferences get underway. As always, we will be digging beneath the headlines to uncover what the top pledges and promises will really mean for women.
And we are extremely chuffed to be launching Feminist Matters with a very special guest blog series featuring the Women & Equalities Ministerial leads from each of the major parties, giving their insight into the main issues for women coming from the conferences.
We will be kicking off this afternoon with Gloria de Piero MP, Labour’s Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities, and you can look forward to hearing from Conservative Minister for Women and Equalities Nicky Morgan MP and Liberal Democrat Minister for Women and Equalities Jo Swinson MP over the next couple of weeks as the conferences get underway.
We would love to hear from you too, so if there is something you would like to see on the blog, or if you would like to write for Feminist Matters, don’t hesitate to drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org
Love, Fawcett x
