EHRC research further demonstrates the motherhood penalty

Today the Equality and Human Rights Commission released their report on pregnancy and maternity discrimination, revealing the UK attitudes in the world of work.

Fawcett Society CEO Sam Smethers comments:

“3 in 4 mothers experiencing pregnancy discrimination at work is truly shocking and completely unacceptable.  It appears that some of our workplaces have a major problem managing and supporting pregnant women at work.  This has to be challenged and changed. It is 2016 and poor or discriminatory practice is driving mothers out of the workplace.

“This is an awful experience for the women involved but also represents a huge waste of talent and undermines UK productivity.”
